How will Essex’s Council Owned Care Delivery Company Operate?

Community Care in this weeks magazine (11th October 2009) carry a feature with the above title on the launch of Essex Cares as a model for other local authorities and county councils to follow – described as the middleway forward the Local Authority Trading Company provides a solution for Councils in maintaining cost effective and commercial focused services which were once in-house but are now externalised.  At the same time Councils as the shareholder can expect a return on the improved efficiencies.   As a model many County Councils and Local Authorities may consider the LATC as an alternative to the more well known Social Enterprise legal entity which is more arms length from Council control and share ownership.  www.communitycare.co.uk/…/essex-cares-is-first-local-authority-trading-company-for-social.html
